Commuting on the RANDRIDE YX80M-2

The YX80M-2 is listed here for longer or rougher commutes. Its 960Wh battery is large for an electric bike: the manufacturer estimates 31 to 60km per charge, so many riders can cover a return trip and charge at home. A rear rack carries a bag or shopping, Shimano 7-speed gears help on hills and hydraulic brakes give a confident stop in the wet.

When it is not the right commuter

  • Stairs or a small flat: it weighs 41kg including the battery, so it suits ground-floor storage, a garage or a bike store.
  • Train journeys: it does not fold, and full-size bikes are often restricted on UK trains at peak times.
  • Short, smooth city trips: a lighter bike will be easier to handle and park.

Before you ride to work

Motor figures are supplier specifications that we are still verifying, so we do not yet describe this bike as compliant with the UK electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC) rules. Read UK electric bike laws, explained and ask us before ordering if you plan to ride on public roads or cycle paths. For planning the trip itself, see commuting to work on an electric bike and how much range you need.
